Since you seem to be heading for a new maf, try taking the maf out, and clean with Q-tips sprayed with non chlorinated brake cleaner. worked for me. Worst case scenario, it won't work and you'll need a new maf, which you're already getting ready to buy.

FYI, to take the maf off, I used vise grips, since the torx bolts have a tit in the middle and calls for specific tool.
