Default Thoughts on a 1999 Disco II for $4000, 166K

Hello All,

I am new to this forum but have been lurking for awhile, trying to gather as much information as possible about owning a Rover (Disco II in particular). I''ve read about the regular maintenance that is required as well as some of the potential problems that need to be addressed (U-Joints, etc.) when buying a used Disco. I am thinking about taking a look at a Disco offered by an Indy shop but wanted feedback from the forum to see if this is a fair price and condition:

Mechanical Report:

This vehicle was purchased from a client. We used as a shop loaner vehicle for a short period until insurance became an issue and we decided to get out of the loaning business again.

"The Bad:

1) Windshield is cracked across the bottom. Not in field of view. We decided to not repair until it became an issue in field of view.

2) Center shaft oring from Transfer case is leaking. Not too bad.. Just keep an eye on fluid level. We just checked it today and topped off.

3) Lower pan or rear main very very slight leak. Nothing of concern. Pretty common.

The Good:

1) Radiator, hoses replaced 10k miles ago.

2) Just performed oil change and service on vehicle today.

3) Brakes in great shape.

4) Entire upper end resealed by us last year off the books. New Headgaskets, Valve Covers, Plugs, Magnecore wires, cylinder heads resurfaced and valve job performed.

5) Besides items listed in the bad, this vehicle is 100% ready to go and nothing else needed.

6) Tires Just rotated. 50% front - 30% Rear

This is a great runner and would make an excellent commuter or offroad rig. "

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
