I didn't leave a "pig tail" on the A/V receiver because I had heard that the Magellan firmwear does not yet support A/V input. However, if it does support the input, I think it's a great idea!
The screen perimeter is decent - you only lost about 1mm on each side (give or take), but the unit sits flush, and that's a good thing.
Reception has not been a problem - it locks onto the satellites without much trouble (the sunroof is a plus!) - but I must say that I'm not overly impressed with how accurate the positioning is (a well known problem with the Magellan 1700). I'm usually about 1/2 a block off, in terms of positioning.
This mounting really only takes about an hour...
