Is anyone aware of alternative fuel sources, one in specific? Sugar Based Ethanol. It’s the same fuel most race cars run on. It’s clean and more efficient than gasoline. Our ethanol is corn based which is bad. In 1973 Brazil started looking at other fuel sources when the fuel crisis hit. They are now the leading producer of sugar based ethanol and its technologies worldwide. They have 13 million acres of sugar cane, and the process of processing it produces more energy than it uses. Its an amazing process, they harvest the cane remove the sugar by pulping it then they burn the pulped cane to heat water that turns into steam and powers steam generators that make electricity to power the processing and then use the steam to cook the ethanol mix for fermentation. In fact in Hawaii most of the electricity was produced this way, still over 40% comes from the sugar factories. The best part is that the whole process pollutes no more than the plant would breaking down naturally and that includes the exhaust. Many of the major car manufactures already have plants in Brazil and cars on the road. Every gas station has gasoline diesel and ethanol. Its cost something like 30% to fill up and produces more power better economy no harmful gases.
Its cool stuff, that where I'd bet my money. Hybrid are great but right now we can support them like we need to with technology mostly batteries. So this alternative fuel allows us to use current motor technology with simple Air Fuel ratio changes in the ECU to switch fuels. In fact most of new cars in Brazil have a small tank for gasoline for the car to start on and run until warm as ethanol has a much higher flash point. After the engine is warm enough to vaporize the ethanol the ecu automatically switches over for gas to ethanol seamlessly.
