Well, looks like the fans are bad.
I took a couple of electrical wires, tied one to each terminal of the battery, and scraped the rubber off of the leads to one of the fans. I got power to it and nothing happened. There is a great import wrecking yard in Austin and I think I'll get two and replace them. If it turns out that I didn't jump it correctly and the fans are good, then I'll sell them on ebay and go on to the switch. Thanks.
