Have a look at nilhans post that dips in to TDi conversions,I wouldnt put any thing more powerfull than a TDi in a series simply because the brakes arent up to the job otherwise,the engine/box assembly from a disco is to long for an 88 unless you got a 90/110 bellhousing for the box
