Here is a couple of ideas....
Get rid of the liner, prep the inside and here is my two ideas:
get carbon fiber and put it in the original headliners place.
get rhino liner and make a real rugged although not hair-friendly liner .
Another thing I saw the other day was a outfit that did a ragtop conversion on a H1 Hummer ala Trucks!
Some outfit has a kit that has a soft top that goes into folds toward the front of the vehicle when you open it. The kit goes for 1200 or 1300 dollars.
You do have to kiss your OEM roofrack goodbye but if you get the rack that sits on the rain gutter, you would have still plenty of cargo space up top.
