on a tip from a dwebber, I got a fan by imperial which worked for his RRC. No love. too wide.
The dimensions needed for a D1 are:
17 inch diam.
3 1/4 inch bolt holes (4)
Counter clockwise rotation
and 1 5/16 depth from mounting surface of fan-to-fan clutch, to blade ends.
I understand a Flex Lite brand replacement with p.n. 1517 should work. I couldn't find one locally to test fit so I gave in and ordered next day air from AB. At least I know it will fit.
So I'll loose a half day but if nothing fails (I did hoses, tstat, water pump and temp sensor yesterday), all will be good.
