My expierence is with the front sunroof so I think it is more or less the same. However, I have a German aftermarket sunroof and last summer the left regulator fell apart and the motor twisted the glass.
The window design on my aftermarket sunroof is designed with two long regulators (looks like a long black brick that fits on one side of the windows). Two regulators on each side of the window, one motor provides the drive for both.
I was able to untwist/untorque the window and close the sunroof with a little help. Next day found a small glass shop , looked at the regulator, found the exact replacement, pull and change it.
