That is what the Americans call them too.
To clean it, remove the air intake hose, with the engine not running, spray all over the innside of the tube and butterfly, open the butterfly and do the same on the back side of the plate. I find if it is really dirty, I use a tooth bruch to break up all the build up, spray it some more then wipe out as much of the residue you can and close her up. May be a little hard to restart depending on how much carb spray you use.
Are you going to do an induction cleaning also to help decarbon the engine?
