Default Body lift needed fo bigger tires?

I was out driving with the new range rover yesterday, and came across an area that had some really deep ruts on either side. The path was narrow so i had to have two tires in one of the ruts. It was also deep enough that my diffs were just barely above the ground. And I mean BARELY. I would love to get a little more clearance. Right now I have some 31" tires and a 2" OME suspension. If I want to go with some bigger tires, like 33", will I have to get a body lift as well?
