It will be a 3.5ltr with a 4 speed manual transmission. The transfer case is part of the transmission and is not seperatable (is that a word). Most of the mechanicals are interchangeable with any of the classic models. So you can go and get a 4.6 motor and bolt it straight in. The 4 speed autos need the transmission tunnel to be made bigger, or just put a body lift into it. The tail-gate, roof, front guards, bonnet and grill etc are interchangable with later classics.
Easy to fit large wheels to as you do not have to worry about rear doors when cutting the guards.
The doors are heavy and a bugger to open if the car is on a lean, they also tend to drop over time, so make sure they open and shut smootly. Check for rust in the front floors and the rear inner wheel guards. Particularly where the seat belts bolt through.
For here is well over priced, but you Americans seemed to value Landrover products highly.
