Just because the CEL is on does not mean you are in limp mode. In many instances your engine menagement systen is now in open lube, not closed as it should be, and as such your truck many not be running at 100% but not in limp mode. There are only a few faults that will actually cause you to go into limp mode, meaning your transmission will have only limited operation, none of which will cause your truck to run rich.
