Default Vent tubes cracked on Freelander, big deal?

I just took my 2002 freelander to the dealership. Found out my service engine light soon was on because my vent tubes were cracked. They want $1400 to fix it. I'm a novice at this stuff...is this super necessary to fix? Is $1400 dollars a reasonable price? The car is running just fine, no weird problems with it other then the light being on it self.

I would appreciate any comment on this,

Dan
