Ok guys, I have nice 01 Disco that I bought a couple yrs ago with plans to build into a expo rig but I have just been using it for a DD and have been pouring my spare cash into my rock buggy. The truck has 112,ooo on the clock and it has always been a pavement pounder with the exception of a few hunting trips with very mild offroad use.
i have meticuously maintained this disc and I know that they live and die by thier maintanance schedule so I have always made sure to stay on top of it. Heres the list of things that I have replaced in the past year or so just for preventitive maintanance.
New land rover front driveshaft (1 month ago)
timing belt
o2 sensors
rotors and pads(same time as tires)
5 new tires (6 months ago or so)
JVC AM/FM CD player with USB and I Pod control(2 weeks ago)
new fuel inj o rings
plugs
plug wires
crankshaft position sensor
canister purge control valve
battery
mass air flow sensor
water pump
new belt
upper intake gasket
throttle body gasket
upper coolent hose assembly (above 12 items in the past year)
2 new power window motors

As for the factory features it came with all the normal SD standard equipment like pwr windows, pwr locks, dual climate control, leather and the rest of the basics. I am technically the 2nd owner of this truck and I knew the original owners(father and son owned it). I have always serviced this truck every 3000 miles and Ive tried to stay on top of all the little things to keep it reliable enough to drive anywhere. I am looking to get 6,000.00 out of it or I might trade it for the right mildly built rover that can still travel safely on the highway if someone wants a more street friendly rover thats in great mechanical and cosmetic condition. If you have any questions feel free to call me or email me.
256 616 7178 - totalcustoms@live.com
For some reason my phoobucket account isnt working but when it does ill post pics. I can email them to anyone interested. Thanks

I am parting ways with my land rover. Before you continue, the truck needs someone with some mechanical skill to keep her going, would love to see this go to someone who will keep it going, or use for parts.

The price mentioned does not include the steel bumper front skid plate, hella flood lights, and the winch, it includes factory discovery bumper.

has 217,000kms
New Sending unit and fuel pump
New brake lines
New CV shaft
Newer sealed unit diff lock selector(they always seize)
New transmission cooler lines (old ones were corroded)
New idle air control (stepper motor)
rebuilt starter
new battery.
Newer brake pads, rotors, and calipers
BFG mud terrains lots of tread on older style disco wheels.
Has an old school CD changer factory radio all speakers and subwoofer still good. Truck is lifted 2-3" on Old man Emu springs and shocks which are fairly new
Safari Guard diff guards.

It needs a new exhaust system, its leaking just after the cats, not too big of a job for an average shop. or DIY

The floors and the front portion of the rockers need to be repaired, they have holes. the floors are fairly flat and you can buy replacement rockers online and there weld in pieces, after that its golden.

When you start the truck it rev's up some times, its because the throttle cable is corroded and needs to be lubed up to allow the throttle to release fully, it only does this in park or neutural. and is a simple fix.

The bumper can be left on for 1600. The Winch can not be included unless you feel like paying 2600 as it is a very expensive piece and belongs to a friend so would have to be purchased off him.

The horn and the emergency flashers dont work, bad relay, just have to find it.

The hella lights are not included.

Have some spare parts with it, two spare tires, original shocks and couple of odds and ends.

The original land rover plastic spare wheel cover will be included as I will be hanging onto the discovery rhino cover.

Call with any question. E-mails will be answered but ones concerning haggling will not. If your serious call. If not don't bother.

The truck is worth the more. I'm not a charity case, I don't give away my work for free, so please no sob stories

Price 1200 with OE Discovery bumper
1600 W/ Safari Guard Bumper
2600 W/ Bumper and winch

Please note: I spontaneously decided to list this thing, even though I won't get my baby back until Monday. So pictures will follow either Monday or Tuesday, depending on lighting conditions.

My wife doesn't like the 2000 RR that I bought a month ago. She thinks it's too old and wants a brand-new one. The bottom line is that I'm willing to sell this vehicle and take a financial hit in order to end the nagging -- even though this Rover is in awesome shape and is perfectly safe, thank you very much, dear.

All the faults up front:

Previous repairs: I bought this Rover for $8,000 almost a month ago and have since invested $1,500 to repair the following faults that were identified at the time of purchase:
- Replaced serpentine belt.
- Fixed minor oil and water leaks.
- Replaced wood trim (the adhesive parts).
- Pollen filter replaced

This weekend, I will spend an additional $1,000 to replace the following two parts that were identified as faulty at the time of purchase (the parts took a while to come in):
- The motor on the rear windshield wiper that sprays the wiper fluid (current one broken).
- The cowling between engine and windshield (the current one misses a piece, which causes wind noise).

I just brought the Rover in to the be serviced at Aristocrat Land Rover, Kansas City. A large chunk of the $2,500 in repairs is the labor at Aristocrat, which runs to $130 an hour.

Imperfections you'll have to deal with if you purchase this RR:

1. There are some small scratches on the rear of the Rover that are visible from about 3 ft.
2. There's a small (<1/4 in?) piece of paint chipped off the top of the gas tank lid, revealing the metal underneath.
3. There are some very small scratches on the center console. Looks like someone made a minor hash of removing previous adhesive trim. Those scratches aren't frequent and aren't particularly noticeable unless you happen to stare at the center console intently.
4. Small scratch on the ash tray cover.
5. A tiny scratch on the top-left corner of the plastic clock cover.
6. There are some small dents on the wood trim on the driver door from when the seat belt buckle hits the wood.
7. I don't have the full maintenance records. I'll know exactly up till when they go when I get the car back on Monday, but the records I got from the previous seller were missing the records between 0 and roughly 40k. I can email you what I have once once I scan them on Monday.
8. The buttons on one key fob are worn out and the battery is dead.
9. The dot on the 4.6 emblem is missing.

I think that's it on the negatives. I haven't had any trouble with the vehicle beyond these cosmetic issues. Once the rear windshield wiper fluid motor is replaced, all the mechanical parts will be in perfect working order.

Now the good parts
- Low mileage (just over 85k for a 2000 is pretty, pretty good)
- Pristine interior. The leather seats are in seriously good condition - I don't foresee any rips occurring for many years. The rest of the cabin is in great shape, too. No stains at all. The trunk is great too, and has a big rubber mat to keep the crud off the carpet.
- Pristine exterior. Virtually zero scratches. Extraordinary for a car built in 1999.
- Options: trailer hitch, navigation, full anti-theft, walnut trim, floor mats, 6-disk CD changer, H/K sound system; I'm not sure what else is an option versus standard. If in doubt, ask me and I'll check.
- Rebuilt engine (at what mileage you ask? Let me know if you want to know and I'll check in the records on Monday).
- British Atlantic coil conversion kit.
- Billstein shocks.
- New tires, rotors and brakes
- Perfect A/C.
- All maintenance on record done at dealer.

So, what you've basically got is an almost-perfect RR being taken by a guy for $8k. He makes it pristine for $2.5k and sells it a month later for $9k, taking a $1,500 hit on maintenance. Guess whether that hit comes out of the joint account or my own savings....

PM me for a test drive or if there are any particular bits you want me to report back on. I'll provide photos of all the pros/cons on Monday.

PS: You know, I always wondered why someone would buy a car and quickly sell it again. Well, now I understand why.

Seriously upset that this has to go but I'm singing the purchase agreement on a new house today and the dormy needs to hit the road. I've never tried to start it, it ran 26 years ago when it was parked due to a bad clutch. I've got the title being processed right now and it should be to me in a week or two. Bulkhead is pretty shot as well as the door pillars and such, some how the rear cross looks good... must have been replaced at some point.

Well ive been toying with this idea for a while. My Disco has ~114000 miles and just completed a trip from Asheville NC to Pocatello ID valiantly. Not a hiccup the entire trip. Ill post some more pics later as its almost 2am here. Its got new ome shocks and springs all the way around (751s in front and 763s in the rear) recently rebuilt propshaft, tastefully trimmed front bumper to allow room for the VERY new 255/85/16 BFG km2s. The only issue is that the resonator got bashed offroading. I chopped the resonator off and had to tow a bmw 2002 about 4 hours up 2400 feet. Long story short, the exhaust heat melted the driverside rear turn signal and kindve warped the bumper. I replaced the turn signal but with the bumper being warped, its not the tightest fit. It works and you couldnt tell it at more then 10 feet, but its worth noting. Ive got a new turn down on the exhaust as well.

Disco is a white LE model with no sunroofs (= no leaks) and Kalahari wheels.

as for the Series Land Rover...

Looking for a solid running 2, 2A, or 3. Doesnt have to look great but does need to be strong mechanically. i'll only be driving 8 miles daily to and from college. I would prefer a Series 2A 109 hi-cap but thats being a bit picky. ;)

This is just a feeler so let me know if im being insane or reasonable.

Thanks for looking!
