For those who are not familar with the XD, it was a special package by Land Rover. Only 35 were built in 1996, 28 of them for the Eco-Challenge race in British Columbia that year as support vehicles. This was one of the 28 trucks and still has it's original eco challenge decals on the doors. After the eco challenge the truck was sold to a land rover dealer in Atlanta Georgia, they supposedly used it as a promotional piece at special events.

I purchased it this year needing new head gaskets, brakes, and steering. As of this point in time, the head gasket repair is done and the truck is running well. I also removed the TC/CDL shifter and cleaned and repacked it with grease so that it is all functioning properly. The transmission is an automatic and shifts great.

I installed new OEM front rotors and pads along with a rebuilt PS front caliper this past week, and will be flushing the brake fluid and bleeding the brakes this coming weekend. It could probably use new rear rotors and pads as well. I have new OEM ones in the box from AB that will be included along with new stainless steel brake hoses.

I have also installed a new drag link and track bar assemblies with all new rod ends, and a new steering stabilizer. In the suspension department I installed OME medium duty 2" springs with new Pro Comp 9000 shock absorbers. I also installed a full set of five 245/75R16 winter tires when I installed the lift.

The only other issue I am still working to resolve is that the steering universal joint has some play, it will be either repaired or replaced as needed. I also have new bushings for the panhard rod, which are probably due for replacement

The truck is in very good condition overall, having spent most of it's life in the south there is really little to no rust in the chassis or frame. There are a couple of dings and dents and the paint is okay, but not pristine. The interior has the original waterproof "XD" seat covers front and rear, and this truck was equipped with the rear jump seats. I also have the original SD roof rack and front brush guard. The front brush guard needs to be sand blasted and refinished as some of the powdercoating had chipped and caused it to rust. The rack is in very good condition. I removed it to get the truck inside to do the head gaskets, but it can be put back on the truck with no trouble. It also has a factory front skid plate.

The truck has just over 137,000 miles on it right now. I also have a complete 1996 Disco SD that I will include for my asking price as a package deal. It was in a collision with a small tree that damaged the hood, bumper, radiator support, and fender. The truck still runs and drives just fine. It has only 97,000 miles and being the same year it's a complete spare parts package for the XD, which is why I purchased it.

This is the rarest of the rare when it comes to Land Rovers, I wish I could hang onto it, but my marriage is more important than my toys right now. I would consider a partial trade as part of the deal. My asking price for the XD with the complete SD parts truck is $6,000, which is probably less than I have into it at this point. I know it's a premium versus a regular D1, but there are only a handful out there. I thought I would post it here before resorting to ebay.

With a little bit more TLC this truck would be perfect and worth around $10,000.00! Interior is in good shape, seats have had waterproof covers on them for life of car. Headliner is starting to sag where sunroofs should be. Car has factory rubber floor mats still. It's supposed to be a very early, somewhat "rare"? model with the color matched 5 spoked wheel and "nutmeg" interior. The Air susp. has been converted to coil. anyways heres the link to the rig. This is the breakdown of the vehicles condition:

Only mods on it are the 4inch Old Man Emu Lift and the 35inch Super Swamper Tires, everything else is stock.
All the racks and front bumper as well as the lights are factory.

The Good:
4-wheel low and high work perfect, transmission does not slip at all and works perfect. I drove it for about 8 hours off road last week and about 10 hours yesterday and temp stayed perfect.
power windows, door locks, AC, heater, CD and radio (also has a 6 disc cd under passenger seat)
and lights all work.
suspension is solid and has very good quality feel - installed in the last 2 years by previous owner.
tires still have a lot of tread and will crawl through a lot of stuff I never thought it would make it through.
runs smooth, doesnt burn any fluids and no smoke at all from muffler even under throttle.
comes with a high lift jack mounted on the rack.
factory heavy duty rubber floor mats still in the car.

The Bad:
Slight exhaust leak on the manifold upon startup but it goes away once the truck is warm. (1 exhaust manifold has a small crack, I hear this is common with LRDs)
ignition key assembly finally broke (this is very common with LRDs) I just removed it and im using a screwdriver to start the car.
Transmission shifts kinda hard but does not slip at all. It feels like theres some play during shifts and when you let off the throttle real quick. (I spoke to a journeyman mechanic and he said it was just a warn out u-joint creating the play) (even after 10 hours of off roading, transmission does not slip at all)
Speedo doesnt work (speedo cable or wire)
passenger front door needs to be opened from the inside (inner door assembly)
ride is a little rough on road but this is because of the knobby tires and the lift kit (ride is extremely smooth off-road)(suspension absorbs very well and doesn't feel cheap or old what so ever.)

The truck over all is in good shape and working order.
Its very dependable.

I would really much rather have the cash but Im also willing to take trades, just email me with pics on what you have to offer.
