Does anyone know of a master cylinder rebuild kit for the Disco II, 2000? Or do I have to buy a new MC? The brakes, which weren't great to begin with, are now really bad! New pads and rotors are fine. My mechanic tells me it the MC. Any advice?

Thanks!

heater blowing cold air..

This morning i had the temp set for 80. I got in the truck this afternoon and noticed cold air blowing from the vents, while it temp was still at 80. Ive tried every airflow combo and still cold air. Unless I put it on Hi then really HOT air comes out.

Any clues what it could be or where to start looking for possible issues?

Coolant Leak: From where i dont know??

OK, I have a 2001 Disco Series 4.0 95000 miles. Noticed a lil coolant leak from the reservoir tank over a month period of time and a lil smell on the driver side. So, drove it to work today. Get here and i have a lake underneath it. Havent driven it in 2 weeks, and didnt leak this bad before. smoke from under the hood and all. SO, I start lookin. I know it is fallin on the exhaust somewhere. Look underneath and it is poorin down the back of the oil pan. Look under the hood and find a steady leak off the driver side valve cover in the rear, closest to the brake booster, not towards the coil packs. Just steadily dripping. Where the two lil hoses go into the injection, the is red build up and i can hear a hissing from one of the hoses i believe. And there is red stuff on the top of the valve cover. So, is it the lil hose/gasket leakin, or the head gasket? what do you think. Help me Disco Mike. :)

P.S. this truck has what i call the crappy injection, cause you have to pull it off to tighten the valve covers, the humps is what i call it. I think it is the Bosch engine. Not the Gem.

O ya, I forgot, I just Seafoam cleaned the injection about 2 weeks ago, which would have been about 60 miles ago. Might have somethin to do with it?? but thats all.

Thanks for any input

Ok, so I come home, shut the truck off and get out to hear a little clicking/buzzing noise. Intrigued as to where this newly discovered sound was coming from I opened the hood. Poking my head around under there I found that it was coming out of my ABS modulator. I unplugged the modulator's top plug and magically it shut up. Plugged it back in, viola it was back. Eventually it stops. Not really concerned about it but have never noticed it before. Thanks. :)

Forgot to add: No lights on my dash and yes...they all work. :)

Need translator for my ABS Amigo jibberjabber!!!

Hi there!

I'm pretty excited to post my codes for this ABS Amigo that I just received in the mail... I gotta say that I'm looking forward to logging into my bank account a week from now and seeing nothing there:buttrock:

After opening the carefully wrapped package (and getting over the shock & awe of how little the item was that I just dropped 2 Bills on:eek: and being distracted by at least 4 bubble wrap pops, maybe 5:clap:) I continued to "plug and play" if you will. I was again pleasantly surprised to see the little LED disco light come on while at the same time hearing Britney blasting over the radio (turned it to acc. on)

The Amigo is very quaint but works very quickly as I found out and read out my codes in a jiff. MY HOPE....is that someone on here is relatively fluent in Amigonese and help me decipher which fix is for me.:help

So without further adooooo.....

Hey ya'll,
Just bought my first disco...love it. Having trouble with the doors locking or unlocking. Funny thing is, both my key remote and inside dash button work fine in unlocking or locking the driver's side. Nada for everything else.
I can unluck the rest of the doors manually, but that's a slight pain.
Checked the fuse, that's fine. Any bright ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Discovery II v8 fuel delivery problem

Hello guys,

yesterday I had a problem with fuel delivery on my Disco II v8 2001 when driving on reserve. The fuel gauge was showing there is still some petrol left in the tank (after refilling the tank I calculated there was still 5 litres of petrol left in the fuel tank; also I drove only 30km after the fuel indicator showed I was driving on reserve - normally I can drive around 65km on reserve). In the middle of intersection the truck stopped - it was obvious there is something wrong with fuel delivery. This was surprise for me as I expected to drive another 30km before refilling (I was actually driving to the service station :rellye).

I went to get some petrol and filled the tank with 4 litres just to get to the service station which was 1km away. I started the truck (after turning on and off the key several times into position I to pump some petrol) but the engine was idling poorly and after one minute stopped. I filled the tank with another 4 litres of petrol and started the truck again, now with success. The car is driving perfectly since then.

Any suggestion what was wrong with fuel delivery? I am pretty sure there was at least 5 litres left in the tank when this happened. Do you think it is just water in the fuel, or dirty fuel filter? Is there any way to depressurise the fuel delivery system without testbook so I can check the filters? Not sure if this helps: we had a very warm day yesterday with temperatures around 38'C.

Thank you for any advice or suggestion!
Cheers

so after a 'dukes of hazard' type airborne ride over a ditch, after skidding out on an ice patch up North, the left front end hit, then air again until the rear right corner hit, then 1.5 more rolls end over end until landing on the passenger door side. after waking up in the passenger wheel well area, with my feet on the seat (wear your seat belts kids), I stood up, and while standing on the passenger door, tried to open the drivers door facing the sky with no luck, as the roof roll pinched the roof over the door shut. I got to back seat, and while a similar pinch on the rear door, could still boot it open...

Climbed out and walked away. Disco's are tanks really... a few other vehicles i would likely have not been so lucky.

any bender pics to share out there .....?

I'm familiar with what ACE does, but not positive how it works. From what I've read it's an electronically and hydraulically control system that exerts onto the torsion bars to keep things stable. My question, does going to a coilover system (OME lift for example) require you to get rid of the ACE system? Or is it completely independent of the coil and shock?

My question, does going to a coilover system (OME lift for example) require you to get rid of the ACE system? Or is it completely independent of the coil and shock?

Anyone know of a better way to get to the washer bottle in the fender? RAVE says take the bumper off, looks like a pain in my ass. I've got a hose broken off of it or something, filled it up today (been empty for a while) and much to my surprise it pissed it all right back out. Ugh. Wiper problems will haunt me forever on this thing!! :) Thanks guys.

Noise and Vibration at high speed

I have a 99 disco II 85k mi. at about 75-90 mph the truck makes a humming noise only when the throttle is released or let off of. if i step on the gas or going up hill at 75mph the truck makes no strange noise. but if i let off the gas at 75-80 going down hill it makes a small vibration and humming noise until about 65 or 60 mph. the main drive shaft was replaced since i see scratches on the tranny case but no major damage. the steering wheel does not shake nor does the car. mostly a noise but only when gas is let off.

any clue of what could do this at high speed?

Hi, I have a 99 Disco 2 with 85000 mi, I drove up a steep bumpy street and two lights manual and sport mode lights began to flash and went into limp mode. I didnt drive thru any puddles or rain in the past week. I turned off the car, didnt start, 5 min later started and no lights. then drove 15 min.

2 hours later started right up. drove about 15 min through stop lights and highway and stopped at a light down the street from my house and it stalled. i was also facing down a hill. coasted to the side and would not start for a good 20 min trying about every 5 min. NO LIGHTS except for the SES light that has been on prior for a bad O2 sensor. 20 min later started up and got me home. Battery connections look good and tight.

Any ideas i could test in my driveway. college student here going home for thxgiving and it is a 6 hour drive.... hope it makes it!!
