I just purchased a "A" frame flat tow bar. I want to tow my series 2a with my disco 2 and I'm concerned about a few things?

1. with no power steering on the series, should I be concerned while making turns and other steering turns? I have 31' tires on the series?

2. Do I need to take off the front and rear drive-shafts from the housing diff's and run the series that way or do I leave them bolted on and just put the low and high in neutral and tranny in neutral?

What would you do?

Thanks for you help..

69 SerIIa FUEL Gauge

So the fuel gauge I have looks in great shape, but for what-ever reason, the previous owner cut the wires in back of the Water/Oil and Fuel gauges - leaving approx a 0.5-1" pigtail of wire left in the back of each gauge. Luckily the Speedo is in tack, although it seems very "bouncy" and prehaps not overly accurate.

I have new wire harness coming from Rovers North, but just wonder if any of these gauges are rendered useless with them having cut the wires as they did, or can they be re-wired without pain...?

appreciated, m:drive:

Flasher/Turn indicator question

I've got working flashers on the right side (passenger) of the vehicle but not the left. Neither the front or rear indicators work. Bulbs look good. The license plate bulb is out.

Rather than ripping everything apart and making one heckuva mess, I thought I'd ask first...is there something in common between the two that would cause both to go at the same time?

Thanks!

If one happened to be in a hurry and added oil (say a quart or so) down the rocker cover filter instead of the oil filler, and then one noticed that the engine was sounding quite rough, and then one turned around immediately and took the valve cover off to sop up the roughly quart of oil, is it reasonable to assume (hypothetically of course) that the engine continues to run rough because the valve tappets are now completely out of adjustment?

Hypothetically, of course...

Head Liner for interior roof options ?

Have a few things left on restoration, one is the liner for the interior roof.

Wonder if there is an affordable replacement available, OR , has anyone had any luck simply spraying it with a textured paint instead ? Really I mostly just want to cover up the older glue line residue etc...and if I used a textured type paint it could cover up most of this and avoid having to get it smooth...

thanks, mike

I have oil coming out of my superwinch lockers when my 67 sits. I assume that there is a bad seal/gasket and that i would need to pull the lockers and rebuild the hubs, is this correct? How difficult is this job? Also in the time being, since oil is leaking I assume I need to fill something, where do I fill the oil for this leak?

Thanks for your help

Hello,

My girlfriend is looking to purchase a 1970 IIA and is currently test driving it. She told me that it grinds a little between 1st and 2d. I think it might be the clutch going out, but I though I'd ask y'all. What could it be? Should it preclude her from purchasing thevehicle which is otherwise in emaculate condition and comes with bothhard and soft tops witha price tag of $13K.

Thanks

109 Dual brake master cylinder rebuild problem

I am rebuilding the brake master cylinder for my 109 but I have run into a problem. Everything was coming apart just fine but once I got the the "B" plunger I couldnt get it out. I can push it back down into the cylinder and it will pop back up to it original spot but it will not come out. I even put the air compressor on it and it still will not pop out. It seems to be hitting something but there is nothing in front of it in the chamber. Has anyone come across this problem and know how to get the plunger to pop out? Any help would be great!

I have a 1974 109 LHD 3 door soft top ex-mod and it is in desperate need of a new chassis. I have welded and patched but the chassis is rusted from the inside out and it just isnt safe anymore. I have looked at all the usual places, Rovers North, Rovers Down South and etc and cant find an ex-mod chassis anywhere, new or used. Does anyone know where I might be able to find one?
I found an ex-mod chassis on Ebay but it is RHD and located in England! I am not sure if it worth the price to ship it but if it is can a RHD be converted to a LHD easily?

Thanks

I just purchased an 83 Series 3 88. The tie rods and other steering components are new as are the tires. Problem is that the truck wants to wander all over the road and doesn't like making turns. It takes quite an effort to turn the wheel. In looking at other posts, it sounds like the 245x75x16 tire is way too wide (about 9.6" wide). Is this most likely the cause of the poor steering response?
Thanks

Thanks for all of your help on this post and other posts in the past.

First of all I am no mech, I do know a little bit, but that could get me in trouble. I have owned a couple of old series 2a, but finally have one that I can actually drive and use as a daily driver. I would like to know all of the maintenance that I should do to it and when (things like greasing and oiling). I know it probably varies with certain things, but I really love this thing and want it to last as long as I do. I live in the mountains in colorado and plan on driving this rig 6,000 to 8,000 miles a month. If someone could give me a good website that breaks down maintenance that should be done or if someone could fill me in on what should be done, that would be great. Thanks

Thanks
