110 double cab insurance at 17

i am currently 16 but will be 17 next month and want a land rover 110 double cab pick up.but because of the large engine size the insurance will be well over £2.500is there anyway around this problem,i thought if anybody could help me it would be you expeirienced lot i am still a novice any help would be very much appreciated.i hope the insurance price doesnt prevent me from getting a land rover

Right well first off where in the world are you, possibly the UK since you used a £ sign but have to ask!?!?!

I doubt there is a whole lot of differences between Insurance carriers in the UK and US (especially since many of them are the same companies).There are what is known as mods (Modification factors) These are applied to vehicle type, Driver experience rating and geographical area. Starting out, as a young driver, they have no experience rating on you, and like it or not, Insurance companies assume you are a bad driver first, and let you prove to them otherwise. It's nothing personal, it's based simply on historical data. Young males are more expensive to insure than young females. In the US, premiums don't usually drop for males till age 25, but that assumes at least 5 years of good driving.
Choosing a vehicle that, in the insurance company's experience, is either expensive to repair, more likely to cause an accident, or be stolen, is always going to coast more.
Lastly, living in central London will always cost more than if you lived in the peak district.
My suggestion would be to get the vehicle, but have it registered and insured, in a parents name. Face it; owning one of these is always going to get you in the wallet.
