Default 2.5l petrol engine carburetor replacement

Hi friends, first post here. (Often searching for tips, but never posted due to ultra slow net speed in my country)

I have a '92 110, with the 2.5l. petrol engine. It was a mess when I got it. The previous owner put a tiny FordMo.Co. carburetor on it, and it is definitely not going to work. I'm looking to replace it.

What do you recommend as a replacement? I'm hoping it is something I can find while I'm on holiday in the States. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

What country are you in ? You're better off looking local as there's LR's all over the world.

I live in Malawi (between Zambia and Mozambique). I'm betting I can find a higher quality, new(er) carb in the States, and cheaper.

Best guess a carb in Malawi will run around $200-250, used.

In any case, what carburetor is recommended?

A good option would be to go to SU carby HIF type, this will require a adapter to fit to land rover, but will give you better economy, better pick up, virtually maint free, stays intune for long periods, no o/r high angle probs. etc.
If you go to UK LR forums you will get details as to supplier. HTSH
