Default 4WD Lowrange - Driving permantly

I just wanted to see peoples opinions on driving a TDI300 Landrover Defender in 4WD lowrange permantly. do you think this is damaging or better in off roading conditions where you do not have to go above 40km's an hour speed.

I personally feel that this is not good for long periods as is disigned to get you out of situations that require traction at a low gear ratio aposed to just all round driving?

However the group that we are situated with is in a debate and some feel that it is a good thing and keeps the gearbox in a better condition and other feel that normal driving with selective engaging of low range is better.

Please post your opinions on this

thank you.

Is this a serious question..? The answer is NO, driving in low range under "normal" conditions is a good way to kill your rig!

If you're always keeping it under 40kph, I can't think of why it would be harmful. As long as it's always on a loose surface, low range locked would be ok too.
That said, I also see no reason it would be better either.
The Rover we used on the farm was in low range 90% of the time.
