Anything wrong with this car? Is it a grey import? |

That's an illegal Defender with a Series VIN. A rolling felony. Underside looks terrible, too. I wouldn't touch that scam with a ten foot pole.

I think I see coil's in this pic: http://i13.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/77/7c/9243_1.JPG .. its my understanding that all Series 1/2/3's had leaf springs and defenders had coils.. some people do put coil frames on their series to create a hybrid.. but not sure on this one.

Same this goes with this Defender: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Land-...QQcmdZViewItem
It is a re-vinned as a 78 SIII. You will take two big chances if you buy one of these. 1. Getting it registered in your state. In California, for example, you would need to take to the State Police and have them inspect the VIN. Big roll of the dice. 2. Insurance, you probably could insure it, but if you are in an accident where you are liable...well, don't expect your insurance company to stand by you and kiss your house and business goodbye... |

Good news: both items have been reported on illegal importation/emissions non-compliancy and fraudulent VIN numbers. Hopefully that takes at least two of these traps off the road.

It would be nice if they enforced those laws, but really.. they won't do anything about individual illegal trucks. It's the people who do more than one that they target- and even then, not very well.
