Default Defender 110 tyre question?

I have a 110 defender and a set of 205X80X16 tyres originally from a 90, I want to use them on the 110 which has 7.5 X 16 tyres as standard. Can I do this with no problems except a slight gearing change as the tyres are smaller? Thanks

The tires will fit on the 7.5x16 rim because 205 isn't very wide. 75 is the stock height of a D90 tire so going to 80 wouldn't make such a big difference, I don't think you have to worry about gearing. I've seen folks go to 275/85s on D90s w/o any problems.

Where are you located?

Thanks, I live in Scotland although come over to the US sometimes. The tyres I have 205X80 are a little smaller (in height, not width) to the stock tyres on my 110 (which are stamped 7.5 and look approximately 85 in height) but as you say the effect on gearing will be minimal. I only got them because they were very cheap, a friend sold me a complete set of Michilin original equipment tyres and the steel wheels for only about $180 and only a year old with minimal wear. I was just worried that their might be some reason why smaller tyres would not work.
