Default Defender 130 td5

Hi guys, great forum! Wondering if anyone could help me out. Im a motor mech on holiday in Srilanka right now. Friend of mine ,who happens to be driving a 130 td5 with 55k on the clock was showing me the outdoors when we had a problem. First ,the fuel pump was wailing and grunting in the tank and then it would occassionally fail to start. When i checked the fuel filter,it was kinda hot but not clogged.I took off the return pipe and cranked it and the return is weak and foamy. Havin limited tools, i got the tank out and had a look at the pump. It was badly clogged on the housing filter so i took off the housing and the filter on the pump itself was completely blocked.I cleaned them out and replaced everytyhing but still has the same prob!Sometimes it starts up one shot but other times ,you have to crank it for a while before it catches.Once started, goes fine. The pump is still complaining loudly in the tank.Im quite sure the pump is shot so we went to a "landy dealer" and he doesnt even have a pressure guage to test it.Any ideas?

Well...I'm not aware of a single D130 Td5 in the US.
You might have better luck on the land rover addict site, or another with more UK ROW traffic. Not that there aren't people here, just most are in the US.
