Does anyone have experience with any of the Defender centre dash kits available from Iron Goat, Mud UK, and Land Rover genuine parts?
I recently picked up a 110 to cope with future travel loads of my growing family and wanted to add a few gauges etc. "Eore", my Series III 88", will be retired from the longer range trips and enjoying a more peaceful life.... too many memories to ever sell it off. Thanks in advance... Henry www.4x4freedom.com |

If you have a copy of the Defender parts manual, you will find they have a leatherette covered bezel for 3 guages to go in you center panel. NAS 90 dash had a square clock, cigarette lighter, and hazard warning pushbutton swithc there originally. When I rebuilt my 110 (NAS) I replace the bulkhead with a new 90 bulkhead, did away with the NAS110 dash, and put the genuine switch pod up where the ROW switch pod goes. Into that pod I put the Hazard switch, and the two switches for the heated screen and heated rear window, as well as the rear wiper control. I junked out the center panel, with square hole, got the LR 3 guage bezel, and put a VDO Oil pressure, VDO Voltmeter and VDO clock. Looks smart.
I'll post a picture later. |

Thank you for the reply - sounds intereting. I haven't got a hold of the Defender parts manual yet. I look forward to seeing your photos. Thanks again, Henry www.4x4freedom.com |

These P&S camera suck. Here's the best I could do for a picture. If you need the bezel part number, I'll dig the book out. It's not in the NAS parts manual, it's in the ROW manual. RN got it for me, but if I recall, it took a long time.

Thank you for the photo - I think this is the setup I am going to pursue. I don't really need all the space the Iron Goat etc. provides - probably overkill for my needs. By the way, that is an impressive comm system.... Now the search begins for the bezel. Thanks again.... Henry www.4x4freedom.com |

Henry, the Facia (I called it a bezel, incorrectly, before) for three round guages (std 2 1/8") is part number MWC9306. I doubt LRNA will get it for you, and it probably doesn't even show up in the list. RN got it for me, as they order out of the UK weekly.
If you need the switch pod pert number, let me know. RDS frequently has them though. Forgot to mention, the lower dash is already punched out for the three round guage configuartion. I think it may also be for S3 trucks too. The pleather may be covering it, but the sheet metal part is already punched. No drilling and hacking required. |

Thought it worth ressurrecting this thread.
The MUD dash is well liked in the UK. The Iron Goat was possibly producing the#m before hand and the propriator of the company has a good reputation. However the IG dash is distributed in the UK through a company called "Scorpian Racing" that have an awful reputation and you may wish to avoid them. They are known as "ScrapIron Racing" by LR fanatics - see www.lr4x4x.com for the full story. Cheers Blippie
