If the New Defender does ever come back to the states, odds are it will look no more like the current Defender as the below reincarnations look like their predesessors...

There is such a huge market in NA for Defender like 4x4s - As seen by the hot selling Toyota FJ- (which toyota is actually increasing the selling price on the '07 b/c sales are blowing away their wildest dreams) and the newly released Jeep Wrangler.

Why would LR not want to get in this market? It seems like most Americans identify with "jeeps" as the most obvious 4x4 truck, so for LR not even to offer a vehicle in this category seems to be counter-intuitive, and would hurt certain branding wishes of LR as well.

I guess I am just really optimistic that LR will see the light and give us a new D90!!

Only problems that I have had no 120000 on the clock is gear box cooked gears and cogs fine but input output seals and sincro's suffered damage I guess this is what happens running over size tyres and driving at 110 for 15 hours on one of the hottest days of the year 41deg learn't my lesson there is now an oil cooler and temp guage to keep me informed of what is going on. Regular service non dealer as I just can't afford their aussie prices.

Adam - the other danger of driving over 100 when the tempretaure gets over 40deg is the increase risk of tyre delamination. I recommend not driving over 100 on these days, and adding an extra 5-10psi in the tyres to decrease tyre flex. Hope the experience was not too expensive for you.

Do you have a td5? If you do and have non LR service, make sure they replace the oil centrifuge, which often gets missed by non LR dealers. You can change it yourself very easily - it is under the dome next to the turbo. Important to do this, as if it clogs up it starves the turbo of oil...
