Defender t/case stuck

I need Help, i have Defender 90 1997 V8 with 4.0 engine and A/T gear box, the problem is i cannot shift from High to low gear, i learned there is a switch on top of the t/case it could be locked, any idea?

Has it been a long time since you had the t-case in low? If it has been a long time, I would say that the shifter is siezed up where the pivots are at the base of the shifter under the floor on top of the trans/t-case assembly. Sometimes you can soak the mechinism in penitrating oil and free it up, other times the shift tower has to be removed and dissassembled out of the car to get the parts freed up. If you need a pic of the assembly out of the car, let me know.
