Default dif lock light on dash flickers on and off

Can anybody offer me advise on the source of why my dif lock warning light on the dashboard keeps flickering on and off. Defender 300tdi with 150k. many thanks

Switch or connection in the transfer case is buggered

Most likely the wire going to the switch on the transfer case is shorting out. The plastic on the wriring goes brittle over the years and it does not take much to crack it and bear a wire.

Switch is a likely candidate but not necessarily buggered - the diff lock switch can be adjusted, IIRC. If it's all gunged up or if "the newness has worn off" then this is a simple job.

Could be a connection or a bad earth.
