Ebay Defender Scam - Land Rovers Only

Hello .. I am new to the forums but thought this was something you would find interesting to read. If not I apologize for posting something of "non-interest"

There was a '97 Defender 90 on e-bay with no reserve and $100 starting bid...
ok so we already know that this person is up to no good right. So they say to e-mail them for more pictures. Well being nieve as I am, I e-mailed the seller which was followed by an e-mail from e-bay telling me the auction had been removed and that the seller could have been trying to steal information from my account by using an outside of ebay e-mail account. !

Well, the item was then taken off of e-bay and 2 days later I receive an e-mail from the seller stating the following:

"Hello, Unfortunately, the auction has ended without a winning bidder because the "Reserve Price" has not been met. The vehicle is in perfect condition, clear title, perfect engine, no fllod, no scratches or any other defects, accidents free. Clean carfax, original owner, car paid off. The Buy It Now price is $11,200 - shipping taxes included.
Reply me if you are interested!"

Ok....lol the item didnt end at all...it was ended by e-bay. So ... I respond with the following:

"I do not see the item listed on e-bay. And I almost believe this is a scam because the item is too good to be true for a price so low. Thank you for the pictures, but I cannot trust myself to proceed with anything."

The reply:

"Ok, it's your choice!
Thanks for the interest!"

(are you guys laughing with me yet?)

I reply:

"Is there any way you can send some type of proof the the item is legitimate? Such as the name of the dealership it is located or some way I can contact you in person? Please let me know as soon as you can"

His final reply:

"Why? Are you crazy? Want to be scammed? This is a scam, right?
Thanks, but no thanks!
Take care!"

And finally I send one more well wish to the seller:

"I commend you on your professional business etiquette. Happy Holidays."

Wonder if that's the one I just bought for $11K... Hope to hear from the Nigerian bank sometime today about how to wire the money to him. sucker! Now *I* got a sweet Defender cheap!

Its funny because I thought I was the only one who the African people wanted to make a multi-millionare. A few weeks ago I recieved about 4 different emails telling me that the government of Nigeria was taking this families money and they wanted to send me 10.5 million dollars......

LOL!!!...I don't knwo about you guys but i just couldn't believe that "I" was picked by 4 different Nigerian families to recieve a total of around 45 million dollars.....
