Looks legit too...check out the interior.

We'll need Terry to check this one out!

I think that it is ligit... It looks like a different top has been put on top that was not available in North America. I have seen a couple of those tops on the african and aussi sections of another forum. Also have seen that style of door handle before. But I will wait for Terry to confirm....

Crap, JC, It's right in your backyard, you go check it out.

The doors ARE correct. I am no expert on anything, and you're puting too much pressure on me, but let me tell you what I think.

It IS an NAS 1997. I have no idea why the dealer (Non LR dealers no absolutely jackshit about anything, but LR dealers know a tiny bit more)
says in the listing, and title, '2006', because the truck is a '97. The 2006 dash has a different switch & radio pod (apart from the obvious fact that there wasn't any 4.0 in 2006).

It did not arrive in the US in that configuration, as there were no "special" body features to any '97 SW imported.

The big question in my mind, is whether the roof skin and window panels are Special Vehicles (LRSV), one of the many good specialist firms like Foley, or a very talented guy who wanted to do something different. I doubt it's the latter, as there are so many details such as the interior window panels that most people couldn't do (but I swear I can see a joint in the rear interior window panels. The side windows are shorter, but (obviously) taller, and I'm wondering if they are shorter by the same amount they are taller, as the window gasket looks factory.
Since there are many specialist firms, Overfinch being best known for RR 'specials', Foley for Defenders, it is pretty hard to tell. Whatever, it's very well done, though I don't care much for it.
As I said up top, JC, Jump in your truck and go check it out.

LOL...sorry Terry. Compared to you, I'm relatively new to Rovers and I know you're a die-hard enthusiast, so I assume you know more than a little bit about every model out there.

I think I'll do just that though, just out of curiosity...pass by and check it out.

And Terry..lol...get ready man, because if everything falls through and I get a Defender, I'm gonna be buggin you a WHOLE LOT!...hehe...just messin

I assume what you mean is you prefer a series handle, as used on a soft top Defernder, as opposed to a Hardtop Defender handle, which was never used on a Discovery.
