Exclamation Lookin at buying a Defender

Hi guys, im running a 96 D1 right now, but ive been lookin into a Defender 90 pick up. Im based in Scotland, and the chassis needs a bit or work, outrigger, back end, inner wing, couple holes in main legs. Not a good start but very cheap and rest of the motor is in good condition.

Has anyone ever done a chassis swap and how long would it take? My mechanic friend thinks it`ll take me forever but he doesnt work on landrovers a lot.

Any info or welding or chassis swap would be great.
Cheers.

forgot to say its an 89 Defender

I thinks he's closed up shop, but I have a friend on Mull, who ran Dervaig Motors. He would do a half dozen frame swaps every winter (when he wasn't salmon fishing and Ralleying) Doing a D90 is no different than doing a Series, in fact somewhat easier, as suspension is more easily replaced. I did an S2A over the course of a few months, because of lots of other projects and chores, in addition to restoring the bulkhead and painting all the panels. All up, I doubt it was more than 4-5 days work had I only been doing a frame swap. I've heard of a couple guys doing it in a weekend.
