overhaul transfer box - Land Rovers Only

hi there
winter has finally arrived , a good time to tend to transfer box.
main Question is:
Do I have to disconnect the gearbox from the vehicle in order to overhaul transfer box (defender 110) ?

you will have to take the transfer box out to do a full overhaul, if its just the input gear you want to replace because of the clonk, on taking up drive, this can be done with the transfer box in
