It's a D90 with a pick-up cab.... you can get one of those anywhere in the UK.

Looks to me like a pretty normal Defender 90 Pickup. But with winch event mods such as the huge winch (requiring the front grill to be cut up), roll cage, few inches of lift, nice big wheels and the tail gate taken off.. Is there a winch in the back too?

Take a look at the yellow 90 in "Red Rhino" advert at the top of this page... Its pretty simmilar.

It just a standard defender that happens to be LHD cos it was sold in Germany... You could pick one up over here for about £4000 and spend another £2000 for simmilar mods and identical looks. Actually if you really scrimped and did lots of work yourself I reckon you could get the whole lot for under £4000 all inclusive.. I'm getting there with mine and I've only spent £2000 including buying the thing

Also for around 4k what yr/mileage does that buy?

No it not a soft top.. Its a Pickup. You can put any yop on any landrover very easily.. If you wanted a soft top with the back open like a pick up you could get a Bikini Soft top for it.

In this months LRO Page 159 Classifides there is a Defender 90 200 TDi County station wagon (1992 J reg) on 98,000 miles with nice big Modular wheels and AT tyres for £3,995. It looks like its in great condition too.. Dont be scared about the milage. We are talking about a 200TDi here. They last for ever..

You could get that and change the top and add some Gucci bits for about £1000.

Or you could get some old banger like mine was. It cost £1100 for a C reg CSW with a 2.5 Petrol engine. I spend about £500 on refurbishing it and about to spend around £1000 on putitng a TDi in it with new back axle to give it disk breaks. I'm goingt o have my dream machine for about £3000 when its all done

It's what we over here in the good ol' UK call a truck cab rather than a pick up. You would have the option of either putting an Ifor Williams or Truckman top over the load bay area (with mods to allow for roll cage of course) or you could fit a 3/4 cancas top or even go the whole hog and rewmove the truck cap and fit a full length canvas, with a Land Rover, although not endless, the options are fairly wide ranging.

Although technically correct, if you start with a full tilt Lr the centre bulk head is slightly different, also the NAS and later TD5's don't have a centre bulk like the earlier models.

As for what it is, well it probably is just a truck cab 90, but I reckon it may be a special, a Range Rover chassis wearing 90 body panels. It would have a 100" wheelbase instead of 90".

This is only a guess, but to me it just doesn't look quite right for a 90.
