Default A question about the hard tops

So This may sound like a stupid question but i have the opportunity to buy a 1997 NAS defender V8 and my question is that does the hard top come off like the jeep wrangler one does or not?

No, not like a Jeep Wrangler ... you can convert a Station Wagon (SW) to a Soft Top (ST) ... but you'll have to find a roll cage which is expensive/difficult to find, and it's a lot of work to do. The d90 may have two different hard tops though, either the full station wagon, or the fiberglass top, which is easier to remove.

Here's how to convert a SW->ST: Conversion Pictures

I just dropped the roof lining on my old one and unbolted the top from the windshield. There's about 6 bolts if I remember correctly holding the top to the tub.

I found a roll cage for the back and then moved the seatbelt hangers...all in all, I used to take it off and drop it back on in about 30 mins.

Mudmonkey,
Looks like yours is a RHD non-NAS.
It would be great if the SW NAS was that easy.
After seeing your picture I see why your name is mudmonkey
