Default The Real 2008 Defender

While searching around google images for defender pictures i discovered a sketch pad image of the new defender i don't know exactly when its coming out but i know it is supposed to be released in the U.S. again as well which is great because i always loved those things sadly in the few articles i have found about it on motor trend for example it is only supposed to have a 3.8 liter V-6 engine hopefully they'll put in the 4.4 liter V-8 thats in the LR3 and Rang Rover but anyway here's the images in addition to having a 2 and 4 door model its supposed to come in soft

Those pics have been out for many years... we're not getting it to the US, at least not in the configuration we want. It'll be based off the LR3 chassis most likely and have the full terrain response system in it. They'll basically make it similar to the new FJ Cruiser path or what the H2 did to the H1... It may have similar 'looks' to the Defender, but it'll be a 'new car'.

I've heard talk about this, but mostly BS and contradictory info.

The real Defender was launched on April 16 2007 and was a direct update to the previous TD5 powered one which can trace it's linage (and one or two parts) right back to the 1948 original.

Since it's already out in the UK, you'd be best served to find somone to pick up some literature while they're over there. US dealerships won't even get brochures as it's not a model available to them. There's a pretty good write-up in the latest edition of Land Rover Owners Int'l.

See my post above, the Defender is already out!!!! But not for the US.

And considering Ford is in major strife I doubt the money or permission will be there for LR to develop a new low volume model.

You want more info, well you're simply gonna have to wait and see if LR release a press release or some actual spy shots of a test mule get into circulation.

But considering we've just had the Discovery 3 (LR3), Range Rover Sport, revised Range Rover and Freelander 2 (LR2), new Defender (UK & rest of world) I wouldn't expect to see anything for a couple of years yet.

I quite agree- I've only seen the pictures, but there's wires, ducts, pipes, looms and relays all over the place. I don't doubt that the engine itself is quite good but they've made a right old mess of the installation.

I agree about the dash, mutton dressed as lamb. Looks like they raided the Ford spare parts bin.

Here's the current model. Wish the dealer I visited had a 110 in stock. Pic was the only d90 the dealer had in stock.
