Exclamation someone knows which engine is on my defender

Hi, I need to know if my LHD Defender 90 MY97 has a 3.5 liter V8 or a 3.95 liter V8? It has Twin carbs.

And as I asked before, I need to know where I can download for free Owner's manual for my Defender 90 LHD MY97

Thanks again.

Luis

Hi Luis,
Are you sure you 90 is a MY 1997? The 3.5 with carbs hasn't been sold since 1986. Unless someone transplanted that engine, it should have had a 300Tdi or a 4.0 EFI V8

Hi Terrys

Thanks for your fast response. Well I'm prety sure is MY 97. If you go to:

Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands you insert your vin number and you will get something like this-(this is my VIN)

SAL Manufacturer code: Land Rover
LD Model: Defender (for early models: Ninety, or One Ten)
V Wheel base: 92.9 inch, but designated 90
B Body type: 2-door station wagon, or hard top
V Engine type: 3.5 litre V8 petrol, carburettor
B Steering and transmission: Unknown code
V Model year: 1997
A Assembly location: Solihull, UK
137621 Serial number

So I supose it is a real 3.5 with twin carbs. Remember our market is Latin America. And exports to us can go weird !!

If you could help me with the owner's hand book will be great

Thanks again.

I have no doubt that the VIN number entered will come back and tell you it's a 3.5 carburated V8, however, I find it hard to believe that whatever market the car was sold in, they could have had 13 year old engines available. The exception to that might be Australia, and I expect Ian may weigh in here on the topic. Can you post some pictures under the bonnet and dashboard?
I have no idea where you can find the owners manual. I know that the one that came with my truck (110) was just a plastic binder with looseleaf pages, but that was 1993.
