Default urbod Td5

Hi everyone I live in Barbados in the carribbean I have a Td5 110 i keep on reading about hybrid turbos for the Td5 but cannot find any online with a price could anyone help.
I have other upgrades such as ecu, intercooler K&N filter but i think my turbo is on the blink and would like to find one to replace it with but would also like a little more boost.

Thanks

Hi Rory,
I may be wrong on my years but I think that the later TD5 have a electronicaly controlled boost control this makes it hard to swap. The early version does not I know with mine (a 99 TD5) This is not the case it is not controlled. Before throwing a new turbo in check the preasure they already run very high mine is around 16 to 19 it was a shock and thaught there might be a fault but it was normal. Sorry as where to find an aftermarket i don't know the other upgrade that does work well is a increase in the dumb pide (waste from the turbo manifold area). a good exhaust shop cane do this for you but it can be pricey.

Hey fella. TD5s suffer from the dump valve stiffening up and not moving to its closed and/or open positions. This could be what is happening to yours. Get in there and remove the boost actuator arm from the dump valve and check it is moving freely, if not get some WD40 on it and get it moving properly.

What ECU upgrade have you got? Being as the TD5 is completely controlled by the ECU, turbo and all, have you thought about fitting a different ECU or plugin chip?

I am not sure of the upgrade but I do know it was done in England through a dealer in Barbados. The difference in power was amazing (it moves).
