So I wouldn't have to run an extra 'hot' wire to the rear, I wired mine into the parking light circuit, and increased the fuse by 5 amps. Obviously, the drawback is that you have to have at least your parking lights on, and it was only going to be a tempory connection, three years ago.
I have since, also added a wire from the backup lights to the work lamp, on the hot side of the switch. It's a hell of alot nicer backing up now and I haven't run over anyone since wiring that feature up.

How do? I take it you have a hard top!

This is what I did. I decided on a seperate system to keep everything nice and simple. The wires are taken from the battery box up the door pillar and then along the internal guttering of the roof to the back panel. The switch is in my switch panel infront of the gear stick. I did have 2 work lights but due to the fitment of the access ladder 1 had to be removed.

Have to say that it comes in very handy when reversing on a dark night in the depths of winter!.

See pics!
