Default broken power window

hellooo
I have an 02 V6 and the drivers side rear window just broke. It was down about 6 inches and my son saw his friend at the playground and stuck his hands out the window to push it down...yep- now it's stuck and open.
What to do now? Is this a DIY for hubby with ebay parts? Is it a fairly simple procedure? (I did it myself on an old saab 900) I want to avoid the dealer (obv!) and also I have no idea where to send it otherwise in Boston...Any ideas on what could have happened?
thanks

Its not hard for a DIYer.

you need to buy the regulator at the dealer though.

You need a philips screwdriver and a ten mm socket, its not too hard really. takes about an hour.

it's not hard...but you just have to be patient when putting the new window regulator...I cursed to much when I was replacing mine.

you also need anothey buddy to keep the window up while you're putting the regulator. ah also, you better buy those extra door panel tabs, because you'll break some if you don't use the special tool to take out the door panel.

mine's a Disco, figured it won't be much different for the hippos

tape works excellent,

and I dont bother keeping the window up, just push it out of the way.

heres a trick get a pice of small wood in a shape of a wedge that will hold it up perfectly.

Thanks you guys- I can't even figure out how to get the freaking door panel off. I see a screw under the door opener and 2 under the handle bar/arm rest thing...sorry to be a chick here, but how the hell does this door come off? I've always had shit*ty cars with visible screws (lol)
I would totally be doing the wood wedge if the window wasn't down 3 inches. I can't pull it up any farther. It does drop down to the lowest position eventually if I don't put something there to hold it up. I could care less if the window ever works. I don't really want to spend the $ to get it to go up and down when I usually have them locked and my son isn't allowed to put it down anyway.
With the winter approaching in New England, I need that sucker up. Come spring, I'm getting rid of it for the RR or X3, so that window doesn't matter.
I noticed if I push the power window button in the console it makes a clicking noise like the power still works, but if I push it up, it is silent. Something tells me that if this is a motor, it still works. Any ideas how to get the bleeding door off? thanks again, I know I'm a pain

you need to take out the screws then, pry out the door panel. you're gonna break some tabs, so better get some door panel tabs before you take out the door panel.

after that, you're gonna see a layer of protective plastic. yes you need to slit them to gain access.
