Default Broken window mechanism?

Hello, everyone. I'd like to know if anyone has experienced this. My 2002 Freelander has 55k miles on the clock, and I noticed yesterday, while operating the rear right window, that it would't go back up. I was able to put it back up with both hands on the glass.

I noticed that it would go down, but not up. It sounds like the motor is fine, but that there seems to be something disconnected inside.

Thanks for responding. I'll check at my dealer to see what the cost for that regulator would be.

I found it interesting that this window would break. It's just me and my wife. To say that the driver window gets used 100 times more often than either of the two rears would be an understatement.

I'm just glad it wasn't something too expensive.

Thanks again.

Well, I called the dealer, and they quoted a price of $255. Does this sound reasonable, or do you know of another source?

As I stated earlier, this window doesn't get much use, so I can afford to wait even a couple of weeks to repair the problem if I can get a better price.

couple pieces of carboard sandwiched between the window and the seal.

you can try ab or some other parts but most likely not much cheaper.

Thanks again, Rovin, for your response. I'm sorry, what was that about sandwiched cardboard?

Oh, OK. Thanks for that tip.

The funny thing is that this happened about five days ago, and the window has not slid back down since. I can push it down with my hand, but apparently the fit is tight enough that it's staying up, unassisted.

I'm going to go ahead and get the part from the dealer and do the replacement myself.

Thanks again for all your input.
