Changed battery in LR2, engine completely dead

I just changed the battery in my 2008 LR2. After doing so, nothing happens when pushing the start button. The interior lights and dash warning lights/icons come on, but nothing from the engine. The red alarm light is flashing at all times; sometimes the rapid 3 flashes, and sometimes the intermittent flashes. From what I've seen on this forum, it appears that I have managed to immobilize the engine. Any suggestions on how to get the immobilizer reset and the engine running??
Many thanks in advance!

Sometimes on the LR2 when the battery voltage gets too low, it will default into Crash Mode, and will not start. There is a procedure to remove it from this, but it doesn't usually work, and needs to be reset with the SDD. You can try cycling the ignition switch with your foot off the brake a few times, along with a few remote lock/unlock cycles, but unfortunately, it usually doesn't work.

One of the recommended fixes for various electrical faults on the FL2 is to disconnect the battery completely and then connect the red and black wires together and go and have a cup of tea or coffee, (in other words wait for 30 minutes). Disconnect the wires and reconnect them to the correct poles of the battery.
Connecting the wires together without the battery allows various capacitors to discharge. I've had the battery out of my FL2 to charge it and had no problems at all afterwards.

I have almost the same problem with my LR2 2009, I changed the battery. After doing so the car ran for many days, then engine not start when pushing the start button and a massage appeared on the panel " Steering column locked ". The interior lights and dash warning lights/icons come on, The red alarm light is flashing at all times; sometimes the rapid 3 flashes, and sometimes the intermittent flashes. i took the car to a specialist garage which mention to me that i need to replace the steering column but he do run the car , i took the car to the dealer. after investigation they told me that the car lost communication they reset programming car was running till that time, after the rest of the day i switch the engine on and off many times to make sure that there is no problem but get disappointed when i tried next day to run the engine .. it happened again same massage appeared and the car not run again till date that daerler workshop contact land rover in UK they advice to replace three parts " Body control module, Airbag module and instrument cluster control module". this is very very costly final Any suggestions on how to get the immobilizer reset and the engine running??
Many thanks in advance!

I have the exact same problem and it just happened today. None of this worked, sadly. I'm stuck at work with no tools so I had to improvise with what I had but not sure what I should do either. By the end of the day with the mechanic I might as well go buy a new car.

So here's an update. I bought a new battery at autozone and I was going to have him test the alternator and starter as well. Well there machine died so I had to go to a different autozone, the other autozone tested everything and said I had a bad battery, I explained that the battery 10 minutes old so he gave me a new battery and tested the car again and the alternator kicked out 14.5 and the car continued to run when we unhooked the positive terminal so it wasn't the alternator or battery. They hooked it up and it turns out it is the starter. I think thr voltage regulator on the starter is bad. It's a $200 part but if you return your old starter they give you $160 back

Going back a couple of years of memory, I had the same problem on my 2009. Put a new battery in and still no start. I took it to a reputable neighborhood mechanic (Christian Brothers) After checking everything with no positive results, he took the key fob apart and cleaned it. After re-assembly everything worked again! Worth a shot and you can do this yourself.

Just FYI for everyone dealing with batteries on LR2. Once battery is replaced.... Anyone notice that their windows will not roll up/down automatically anymore?? Stupid window regulators have to be reprogrammed everytime the battery is disconnected. If anyone has this issue the process is simple.
Roll window up holding button, release then hold up button for 2 seconds. Do this going down. Make sure you release when all the way up/down then hold again for 2 seconds. This must be done for all windows individually.

new battery and 2008 lr2 won't start

On 2008 Land Rover LR2, replaced the battery and now the vehicle will not start. I have read something about crash mode. How can I reset this? Towing to a dealer is insanely expensive, as it requires a flat bed to tow. There has to be a way to do this with running to the dealer every time something goes wrong. Personally, from my experience North Houston Land Rover Service Department is a joke. Please someone help!

I really hoped this would work but it didn't. The Rover died last Thursday night. Won't start. Prior to this it would not start and the screen said "HDC Control Error". I said uh-uh, hit the button again and it started. HDC wasn't engaged anyway! So the next day it just refused to start. Hit the button, no turnover or anything. I think now it may be the starter, which is cool cause I have a CarMax extended warranty so I'm looking at $250 max. But still, if it was something to do with the computer resetting I'd love to do it myself rather than towing it over there, even tho that's free. Any other ideas ladies and gentlemen?

There is a high draw on these batteries when starting. It seems like when the battery is marginal they do not want to start. Obviously check the battery first. If all is well, we have started to see the starters failing on LR2's. Seems a little premature for their age but it happens.
