Clunking in drivetrain

Hi I hope someone can help.
I have a 2001 Freelander 2.0 Dsl which has recently developed a heavy Clunking noise in the tunnel when accelerating.
This noise is worse in 4th or 5th gear but can be heard through all gears.

Any advice much appreciated

I am not sure on this one but check the front rear diff rubber mount - give the diff a good up and down shake. I have had the knocks on changing down and it was the diff mounting. The front of the diff is supported by only one which is off to one side - it often fails - it wears out in the center.

Relatively easy to check so why not.
