Freelander 2000 TD4 starting problem after intial couple of starts
Hi everyone,
Can you help me to diagnose this fault?
I have a 2000 TD4 freelander it was run low on fuel. Since then it has developed a problem starting. It started with the heater light on the dashboard not always showing after the intial daily start. Then after several short journeys the light would not show and car would not start. If I left it 30 mins it would start again. This problem has got worse to the point where it will start for the first time and then will need to sit for anything upto 3 hours before it will start again.
I gave it to a mechanic to look at and he put it on the diagnostic and said it had no faults showing. He ran it a coulple of days and it only happened to him once. He said he felt it was a fuel problem but would this explain the heater lights on dash working intermittently?
He did all sorts of tests on the car hot and cold checked temperature of various pipes etc. He was unable to locate the problem and said it could be anything and without starting to replace things he could not be sure what it could be.
Once stated it does not miss a beat runs lovely and pulls great. Its covered 110k
Thanks in advace for any guidance
Darrell
