Here in the states i don't think we will ever see a diesel freelander

Seriously if you lye on your back underneath the car you should be able to see it.

The oil filter is on top of the engine and it is not a spin on oil filter - you need to remove the top engine cover. The oil filter is a large black thing about 3" across - it has a hexegon moulded into the top - it looks like it is next to the dipstick - I cannot tell what side of the engine is on (I don't have a TD4) - the picture I have indicates it might be on the front left side of the engine.

Hope this helps

Thanks garrycol, I had purchased a Ryco oil filter that was listed under td4 and it was a spin on type. I had looked at the one you discribed and thought it was something else. Shout you a beer next time i am in Canberra.

If it was a Ryco 587 it fits my L series Diesel Freelander (XEDI) which does screw in under the engine. Many people think diesel freelanders are all TD4s therefore any diesel listing will fit.

Good luck with it
