Default Fuel Economy

Lately I've noticed that the fuel economy has gone to hell on my 04 Freelander SE V6 since my last dealer service interval.

My driving style in my opinion has been pretty constant since I've owned it, and my commute to and from work is now shorter now that I've moved to my new house.

Yet still, a full tank of gas is barely lasting me a week; where as before it would last about a week and a half (and I've been buying the same petrol from day one).

Any ideas on why this maybe happening? I'm wondering if the air cleaner needs replacement?

What does a week or a week and a half per tank work out to. I can get 3 plus weeks out of my D2 but that doesn't say much for my mileage.

For me that works out to be approx. $55.00 USD per fill-up...

The mileage between fill-ups averages out at around 120 to 130 miles between each fill-up.

My average over the 4 year ownership of my 2002 Freelander was 21.87 mpg with a min of 16.2 and a max of 27.5. The lows were off-road miles the highs were fully interstate miles.

What is yours in terms of miles/gallon?? If you are using most of a tank and only going 130 miles then your mileage is about 10 mpg which is really bad for a Freelander.

You said it has been low since your last service. What was it previously? How many miles do you have on your vehicle and what was your last service? I'd recommend getting a good measurement of fuel economy in terms of miles/gallon and then going back to the dealer and ask them why it should be so low after their service. Quote my numbers if you want.

Previous I was averaging roughly a little over 18 mpg... Now since my last service, I barely making 12 mpg.

I'm definitely going to take this up with the dealership. I've actually already contacted them, and they've asked that I bring it in for them to look at.

Thanks for your assistance.
