Default Lr2

I just took my new LR2 out to the beach. It did better than I thought it would in the deep sand. I almost got stuck, but the wheels sank down enough to catch a hard coral bed and I made it out. I wanted to do more, but the base police told me the beach was closed to vehicles. I guess I drove over the rocks that where suppose to keep me off the beach.

As for gas millage. I just got 20.7 MPG that is running 92 octane with 10% Ethanol. Most of the driving is city. I think it will be better if I can get a K@N air filter or a Fram Air hog. Does anyone know what Eng I have or what size filter I would need?

Thanks for the link. It looks like they have every part needed to build my own Rover.

bird your not going to get better gas mileage from a fram or a k and n, they give more power which robs you of gas.

you forget your mpg rating is city driving but you dont say what your average speed is?

you can do 60mph and idle for both an hour and still average 30 mph and crappy gas mileage.

listen dude, we build these cars way better then any aircraft. way better then we did years ago like your disco. thousands of engineers have made every effort to get the best mpg possible. trust me you are wasting your money. I know you want to do something to get something better but trust me there is nothing you need to do except make sure the air pressure is good and the oil level is good.

trust me we do it alot better then before.

I have to disagree with you on that Land Rovers are built better than any aircraft!! The last jet I worked on was over 25 years old and could still do MACH 1 and do an inverted roll to a stall and come down with a tail drop and pull it out with a hammer head!!! I have not seen any LAND ROVER do that. To say Rovers are built better than aircraft. I don't think so. And many aircraft I have worked on have well over a million miles on them. What is the record for a Rover?

I just like to go the extra mile and keep my Rover running smooth. As for my gas millage. I try to keep the speed to about 30 MPH and keep the RPM's at or below 2K after a stop. I think I could keep my RPM's down if I use the sport mode, but I don't think it was designed to be shifted much like a regular stick

Sport mode will cost you gas because the ECU changes the shift points higher for better acceleration. Use the automatic mode and keep your foot out of it and you'll do the best.

K&N filters haven't been proven to get better mileage than stock filters. You do run the risk of contaminating the MAF with excess oil from the K&N. And you'll pay for the fix yourself because the factory warranty won't cover problems created by non-Rover parts.

Keep it stock and let the engine run in for a few K miles. Mileage should improve a bit. 20 mpg in Oahu traffic isn't too bad, me thinks.

I just filled up today again. And the last tank I got 17.5 I had two good long road trips. And we did have a few bumper to bumper days because of some lanes closed on the Nimitz highway. So I think that is what did me in this week. When I start my new job. It will be 98% highway miles.
