Just purchased a 2004 Freelander HSE.
A couple of quick questions: What tire pressures work best with the stock 18" wheel/tires? Any advantage to using premium fuel over regular? Thanks |

Welcome aboard.
The best tire pressure in my opinion is 38-40 PSI all round; Your owners manual will tell you differently, however, use the fuel that your manual says to use, any thing else is just wasting your money.

32 psi works fine.
This winter keep an eye on your coolant level otherwise you wont have heat or overheat? Did you buy this vehicle at a LR dealer or private owner? How many miles on the vehicle.

It was designed for regular fuel, use that. Higher octane fuel in an engine not designed to take advantage of it will cause harm long term.
On my wife's, when we run the 17" wheels we use tyre pressure in the high 30's because of the short side wall. Any lower than about 34 or so and it's easier to pinch a sidewall on a pot hole or something.

Thanks for the responses, unfortunately I do not have an owner's manual yet - to be ordered. My experience with other vehicles sometimes led to tire pressures slightly different than the suggested or at one end of the suggested range. Just looking for insight as this is our first Land Rover.
2004 w/just under 34k, full dealer service history - no major issues: tail lamp bulb, replaced a cracked vacuum hose and a new battery, other than that just scheduled service. |

Did you buy it Land Rover Ceritfied.
Oh and when it comes time to do all the services make sure you have proof. And stick to what the factory says or do beyond it. Most of our freelander customers just change the oil and sometimes when things go wrong like an engine or tranny it bites them in the ass cause of the lack of proof.
