Hi Guys,
Right or wrong, I traded my Volvo s60 for a 2003 (52) Freelander 1.8 Kalahari despite reading the horror stories of the earlier 1.8k series models. Has the 52 inherited the problems, (Head Gasket, temp gauge)? The vehicle seems fine, a little less power than the s60 but adequate for the lightweight caravan we own, surely LR have resolved the problems by now? |

I am not sure they have really sorted the problems but there are heaps of cars both old and new that have never had the problems (there are also heaps that have).
Keep the cooling system serviced, replaced the thermostat regularly, replace the coolant regularly and make sure the coolant is never allowed to drop - if there is any sign of stress/overheating from the engine - stop. If you do these things, even if the problems have not been fixed, the less chance of problems with your car. Garry |
