Sorry! hahaha
Just giving you the welcome. I don't know anyone who wheels one, but I have noticed some on the board do! They will be glad to offer tips. some of the basics are new coils for some lift, larger more aggressive tire, recovery points strong enough to recover you or someone else, and skid plates front and rear because you're not likely to get as much clearance as some other rigs. I'd start with tires and recovery points, add the lift if you want to get bigger tires right off the bat. Good Luck! Where in Colorado are you? or did I misinterpret your screen name.

Check out our club. We have a lot of trips in all levels. I think there is one coming up that is for stock rigs.

I have seen a few freelanders out, basically due what thor said. Get good recovery points and skid protection. If you want to do some more technical trails a mild lift and larger tires will go a long way. The best advice I can offer is to start off easy and see where you are comfortable and go from there. A group of friends and I have a few runs coming up Sept 6 and Sept 27.
Couple of CO runs if you wanna go You will make all of the 6th and most of the 27 totally stock. |

Search Youtube for 'xtremelander' entertaining video of some pom's upgrades. Mine has the stainless running pipes along the sills...they make the clearance slightly worse but keep it shiny and ding free, and if you are concerned about cross-over angle you should be using a defender or a RRC, not a freebie. Mine is on rubbish road tyres and intend to put it on 15" rims and ATs when they wear out. I would say good AT tyres, nudge bars, headlamp shields, underbody plating and perhaps a winch would be the most you should aim for with a freelander. As for cost effectiveness...go for the tyres only, leave everything else. I wouldn't lift mine as its never going to be wonderful for articulation no matter what you do, you're better off keeping it low. That way it'll handle great for high speed fun on the beach etc.
