Default Oil fiter for LR2

for those who wants to change oil between dealer service interval (7500miles), Volvo 3.2L engine's filter is the same as LR2 filter. The filter is produced by Mann, but LR2 is not in the Mann's catalog yet.

I did buy a filter from LR dealer, then bought aftermarket filter for 2006 Volvo XC90 w/ 3.2L engine from Welcome to eEuroparts.com, and the filter was the same.

In fact, the OEM filter from LR box reads "Mann" on the filter.
So, you get exactly same part for about $7.00 instead of $14.00.

Unless you are out of warrantee or the time period for the oil change, dont waste your time until you are out of warrantee. Remember LR pays for the service.

besides you have to remove the shield underneath to do the oil change. Plus the shield itself is actually apart of the subframe and adds to the stiffening of the subframe. Remove it and you will find it tips a bit more on turns.

I just think 7500 miles is a bit too long interval on a regular oil.
For the last service I gave them synthetic oil so now it should be fine w/ 6000-7000 miles interval.

For those who lives far from a dealer (some live 300-400 miles away), DIY oil change may be a good way to save alot of time... and money considering gas prices.

Anyone that lives 400 to 300 miles from a dealer isn't too bright. Sorry but remember your vehicle will break down and when it does you will have to drive it to the dealer. If you get it towed, they wont tow it back, you have to pick it up.

If you buy it new from the dealer knowing that you are going to be that distance away, you have only yourself to blame when it comes time to do anything. Sorry Napa wont have parts for a Rover and Joes garage in your neighborhood wont even be able to understand how they work, even work on them. Rovers are complicated especially the new ones. Stray to far from the dealer and you end up with more headaches and no help from the selling dealer.

Remember the gas you waste driving to the dealer in your vehicle will be multiplied by two if you decide to purchase any vehicle including a Land Rover each and every time you need service.
