Default Please Help Me Urgent advice needed

I have a 1998 Freelander petrol, a few days ago while driving home it was miss firing, when l parked the car and switched off the engine, to restart it again the engine was just turning over like its about to start but would not. I called the RAC man who told me it could be a problem with the dietributor, now if l leave the car for a bit it will start but after a struggle and when driving it, feels like it has less power, if l stop and switch the engine off I cant start it, it will just turnover therefore l have to leave it for a longtime till it can start again but with a struggle.
Has anyone ever exprienced this kind of problem and how is it solved?
